Specific sport injuries Gary treats

Children’s bodies are constantly developing, often times making them more susceptible than adults to sports and trauma injuries such as muscle, ligament, tendon, and bone injuries. Acute trauma injuries in younger children can range from minor bruises, sprains and strains to more severe injuries such as broken bones and torn ligaments.

Overuse injuries, on the other hand, develop due to the continuous strain on bones and muscles from repetitive motions of a specific joint. These types of injuries are common and can include conditions such as tendonitis, stress fractures, and runner’s knee. It’s important to address overuse injuries promptly and make necessary adjustments to training and equipment to avoid exacerbating the condition.

Treatment for severe sports injuries and trauma can vary depending on the nature of the injury and the affected body part however, it usually involves physiotherapy, bracing or taping. In certain circumstances, surgery may be necessary to repair the damage sustained.

How to treat sports injuries

Gary has years of experience specialising in the diagnosis, management and treatment of sports and trauma injuries. He has a deep understanding of the emotional and physical impact that the injury can have on your child and family, and therefore approaches each case with compassion. During your consultation, Gary will examine the affected area.

During your consultation, Gary will ask about the nature of the injury, when it occurred, and any previous medical conditions that may affect the diagnosis and treatment. He will also conduct a physical examination and assess the extent of the injury. Gary may also require further imaging such as X-rays or CT scans.

Gary recognises that a quick and effective recovery is essential for children to get back to their daily activities and return to their sports with confidence. With his expertise and dedication to patient care, you can rest assured that your child is in the best hands.
