Babies can be assessed clinically, imaged by ultrasound and bracing treatment can commence (if required) all in the initial appointment.
Many bone and joint injuries require assessment and management by an orthopaedic specialist to ensure that they can heal correctly. Our Fracture clinic offers urgent appointments at the Victorian Orthopaedic Centre in North Melbourne, where we have a dedicated treatment/plaster room, and x-ray facilities on site. If your GP or local emergency department has recommended specialist review for your child’s fracture, please don’t hesitate to call us on 03 9322 3360.
Children (newborn – 2 years old) do not have to be formally diagnosed with hip dysplasia to be assessed in the Hip Clinic. If your baby has had signs of possible hip dysplasia reported on ultrasound or x-ray, or has dislocated/dislocatable hips, please call us on 03 9322 3360 to discuss booking an appointment.

Before your surgery, you will receive an estimated cost for the surgical/gap fees. We advise you to check with your health insurer to determine if you are covered. Additionally, please be aware that services such as anaesthesia, surgical assistance, radiology, pharmacy, pathology, orthotics, and physiotherapy will incur additional fees.
